The Value Of Private Jets
By: Jonathon Blocker
If you are a frequent flyer, have plenty of time schedule a flight and secure a ticket months in advance, more time to stand in lines for security screening and check ins, and don’t mind taking a meandering route to your destination that requires changing planes at least once and may end several miles short of your ultimate destination, requiring you to find a connecting flight, rent an automobile, or arrange some other mode of transport – then yes, flying commercially is a great value.
On the other hand, events in the business world happen at a fast pace, and circumstances may require you and perhaps your colleagues to be somewhere within a few hours at a moment’s notice. Or perhaps you’re in a position where finances are no object, and you have almost unlimited funds, but a finite amount of time.
If your time is valuable, you’ll find that chartering a private aircraft can be and excellent deal. When you by charter jet or other aircraft, you are in control of not only the destination, but what kind of aircraft that takes you there. Whether you require the comfort of a midsized business jet or prefer the economy of a small piston-engine propeller-driven craft, the choice is yours.
As private companies, charter carriers are able to do all their security screening well in advance, which saves you substantial time – and are able to do a much more thorough job of it as well. There is no safer way to than aboard a privately chartered aircraft. As private carriers, they can also fly into and out from many smaller municipal and rural airports that are closed to larger commercial jets. You will not have to worry about making connections and having to arrange transportation to your ultimate destination, because your charter flight can take you there directly!
The best part of all is that private jets are available on your schedule. While you certainly have the option of booking a charter flight weeks or even months in advance (and can often enjoy substantial savings by doing so), many of the companies who offer charter flight services can have an aircraft fuelled and ready to fly you to your destination with as little as four hours’ notice. Can any commercial airline do that?
It seems obvious. Charter flights can seem expensive, but when this is compared to the cost of time lost standing in line, flying to “hub” destinations that are hours out of your way and arranging transportation to your final destination because the airport was miles away, privately chartered jets are indeed an excellent value.
Charter fees can vary widely between carriers, as well as the specific services offered – so be sure and do some comparison shopping well before you need the Jonathan Blocker is an avid business and writer.
