By: Dan Oldfield

Puerto Banus is a marina that is located on the Costa del Sol, Spain. It is close to the resort of Marbella and is a popular tourist holiday destination. The area boasts some beautiful beaches and fashionable shopping areas. The scenery is magnificent with a mountainous landscape in the background of this burgeoning and stylish resort.

Travelling There
Flying to Puerto Banus is the easiest option despite the lengthy two hour transfer time from Malaga International Airport. Roads in the area are of good quality so driving or a bus journey is the other option worth thinking about.

Accommodation
Due to the areas glamorous and wealthy status, the accommodation within the town is dear and luxurious. I you would like a wider choice of accommodation types and for cheaper then head for the suburbs and outskirts of Puerto Banus.

History
The area received its name in 1970 from José Banús. Since that time it has developed from a small fishing village into one of the most famous ports in Europe. Although the area is a recently new holiday destination, Puerto Banus is quickly growing in popularity and style.

Puerto Banus is magnificent European marina so there are plenty of the most impressive yachts in the world to look at. Also, it is quite common to see celebrities hanging out at this destination because of the great shopping and luxurious atmosphere.

This region is world renowned for its fabulous shopping potential for fashion clothing and furnishings. If it is designer names that interests you then you will love the waterfront shops at Muelle Rivera that are packed with the best names in fashion.
